What is an engine tuner for a mazda miata?

Ok so like I'm looking to get a mazda miata soon but i dont know what kind of mods to do to it. I want to put a turbo in it but i want to first get an engine tuning for it. I know there is like a cobb tuning for subaru what is the equivalent for the mazda miata?|||What you're referring to (the Cobb device) is commonly called a Piggyback because it requires the original ECU to be present and simply 'adjusts' the information coming into the ECU so it thinks everything is stock. This is different from a Standalone such as the Megasquirt. Standalones replace the stock ECU entirely.

If you're planning on forced induction, a piggyback can only adjust so far because it's still tied to the original ECU. But first, get an idea of what your goals are and make a solid plan before opening your wallet for anything. As they say on the rx7club ,"Fail to Plan, Plan to Fail."|||Cobb makes a nice tuner for Mazda also, I have one for my Mazdaspeed6. If you mod the car you will definitely need a tuner. Just cat-back and cold air intake messed up the idle and threw check engine codes, so Cobb was needed. There are other brands out there, they tend to run $500-600 new. I bought mine used on ebay.|||There is a plug and play mega squirt for it.
