What are the possible capabilities of a tuned 1.6L miata?

I just want to know how much i can expect to possibly get out of this engine. I don't want to get a miata if 2000 dollars worth of modification will still only get me from 0-60 in 6.5 seconds.

Also, what are some simple stylistic modifications that would make the Miata look really great and out of the ordinary? What are the possible capabilities of a tuned 1.6L miata?
Flying Miata has some on line dyno reports for modifications they have made (http://www.flyinmiata.com/tech/dyno.php)鈥?/a>
Also Grassroots Motorsports has done several projects. (http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/project鈥?/a>
As for styling changes, they come as simple as light assembly changes to full body kits. Even the head lights can be changed over to flush mount projector set ups (http://www.gomiata.com/mamiflmoheki.html鈥?/a> Hood scoops are easy, but care needs to be taken not to force more air under the car.
The usual swaps are to either a Chevy or Ford small block. The Windsor family is easier to do because there is no need to rework the fire wall for the distributor. There are two owners that have done this that I have met. One was more into freeway driving and the other more into mountain roads. Now the driver who stuck to the free way was happy, while the other sold his first Miata (with the V-8) to buy one that was stock.
There is more information to be found at Miata.net (http://miata.net/) and Miataturbo.net (http://www.miataturbo.net/) then I have room to post.
The Miata engine can take 220 HP with out major parts changes, 500 with quality racing parts. What are the possible capabilities of a tuned 1.6L miata?
They have Ford and Chevy V8 motor swap kits. When you are done, it'll most likely cost $16,000 properly done.
