Whats a better car, the 1999 miata or the 2001 toyota mr2-s convertible?

I like the look of the mr2 spyder, but I hear the miata is a more fun car overall.Whats a better car, the 1999 miata or the 2001 toyota mr2-s convertible?
I have an 01 MR-S and an 03 Miata.Both of them are fantastic cars.



Miata is much nicer in terms of build quality and finish.

MR-S gets points for being roomier,especially in the width department.

Motor/performance: a wash.Neither is a fast car nor were they meant to be one.Their performance is "adequate" but the motors are far more similar than different.

Clutch/gearbox: Mazda wins hands down.The shifter in the MR sits higher than I would like,doesn't give the same snickety-snick ( but what affordable car does?) and the clutch is "interesting".

Looks wise: I like the MR2 spyder more, but looks are in the eye of a beholder. Both are absolutely amazing cars.

If you want looks + performance for sure you have to go with the miata. btw, the 99 miata takes regular gas not premium, considering how expensive gas is that may do you in.Whats a better car, the 1999 miata or the 2001 toyota mr2-s convertible?

The better car is the Miata. Mister Two's are nice, but for fit, finish, performance, and reliability the Miata is almost unparalleled among that class of vehicle.
