Swapping a Ecotec LE5 into a first gen Miata?

Would it be possible to swap a LE5 Ecotec from a Solstice into a first gen Miata? Has this ever been done? If so, could you maybe point me in the right direction for a write-up or something?Swapping a Ecotec LE5 into a first gen Miata?

As near as I can tell, there will be a problem with getting it to fit.

Like in the thing is TOO LONG!

Which means the either the fire wall has to be moved back (where will the driver put their feet?) or the front header will have to be moved forward (which will upset the car's balance).

Now I am prejudice against every thing GM, even more so about an engine based on the old Opel power train. I will admit that the Solstice did receive average marks for reliability, the Cobalt (same engine) did not. Which means that while performance might be improved, reliability will suffer.

Dollar for dollar, there are a lot better up-grades to consider.

Try the links below, maybe you can find more info on this.
