How much should I pay for an old Mazda Miata?

Let's say a 1995 miata. with average 15 year mileage.

i find some for about $3000-$5500 on craigslist but that seems over priced to me. i would think 3000ish would be tops for one of those...How much should I pay for an old Mazda Miata?
Kelly Book list on a 1995 Miata is $3560-$4660. Even on e-bay motors they have sold for $3,150-$5,750.

The price stays up pretty will on a Miata for several reasons. One is that they are a popular track day car. Also Mazda to keep the price up does not make as many as it could sell. Most of us Miata owners are not really wanting to sell our Miata's and when we do often it will not be for less then we think it is worth. How much should I pay for an old Mazda Miata?
Cars like the Mazda Miata (MX-5) hold their value fairly well, mainly because the styling hasn't been changed much as years have gone by. Which is why many Land Rover Defenders for example are still very expensive second hand.

Actually the best time to buy a convertible or roadster is when the weather is very cold and makes cars like this difficult to sell. This in turn affects their value. When the hot weather comes along, the prices shoot up as sellers are desperately making the most out of making a profit :)

Of course do your regular checks before buying a vehicle like comparing against others of a similar spec, mileage and age and get a HPI check to make sure it isn't a dodgy write off or previously stolen.

Only after you've done these that you shake hands with the seller ;)How much should I pay for an old Mazda Miata?
pricing a car can be a little tricky and sometimes confusing. you can own a 20 year old car with only have 30,000 miles in it. or a 3 year old car with over 100,000 miles on it (that's my car). The best way I would know Im not paying too much for a car is the following:

1. go to kbb.com (kelly blue book) this site will give you a good estimate of how much a car should cost. and its free.

2. make a car-fax. this can give you the car's history and also you'll never know your buying a lemon.

also if your interested in buying a car on craigslist be carefull, there are a lot of con-artist.

well hope this information helps you

good luck!
