How much will it cost to do a miata rotary engine swap?

ive been lookin for a project car to have fun with, and i was wondering how much it would cost if i took our old miata and put a rotary engine in it?How much will it cost to do a miata rotary engine swap?
Depending on how much you can do yourself, could range from $5 000 to $20 000. You are probably looking at using a renesis with an rx-8 transmission. Any other rotary will be pretty similar, but have more aftermarket solutions to some of your problems. You'll need an ECU, custom engine and transmission mounts, and a custom drive shaft, minimum. There'll be some exhaust work, and the intake will need to be rejigged a bit for the miata chassis.

This is a great project if you want to do it because you like miatas and rotary engines. I'm working on a swap of a renesis into an RX-7 FB. As other people have said, there are cheaper ways to get more power in your miata, including a new race engine from mazdaspeed, but this is definitely cool. How much will it cost to do a miata rotary engine swap?
I would suggest that you go to miata.net and find some one who has done this swap. The information that they provide would be more valid then any guess from us.

In my stable I have 2 Miata's and an RX7 (project car).

So having priced RX7 engines and Miata engines (as well as up-grades), cost and performance wise, a built Miata engine and turbo (or supercharged) might end up costing less. Another advantage to taking this approach is that all the parts will fit in and work together.

A word of caution on car projects, having driven cars with power, any time you get below 15 lbs/ 1 HP the car becomes very sensitive in turns. Yes, even the Miata! How much will it cost to do a miata rotary engine swap?
it all depends, on if you are going to do it yourself, and if "yes", then DO YOU HAVE ALL OF THE NEEDED TOOLS, to do the job.

that is most important. if u dont have the right tools or cant get them, then u are screwed. so do your research first, and then proceed with the work. so, lets say you do have or can get the needed tools: ok, so i suppose that you want a used rotary engine? well, you need to get on online, or go to a junk yard. either way, its gonna cost ya.

and you wil also, have to do some FITTING of the engine into the MIATA, since miata's dont come with a rotary engine. so you will have to maybe make your own, new motor mounts and all that goes with that. maybe even do some WELDING. which aint easy.

i owned a mazda with one of the first, if not the first, ROTARY ENGINES, in it. and it was a super smooth running car. no vibration almost. and very quiet. BUT ITS BAD NEWS WAS THIS: the gas mileage was poor. at only about TEN miles per gallon. but, i was a fast driver. but still it did not get good gas mileage.

and also worse: after about owning the car for 2 or 3 years, THE CAR LOST IT COMPRESSION, and would not start or run.

PROBABLY due to a worn-out APEX SEAL. the seal that acts as its piston rings.

and so, your best bet, is to just use the piston eng. in the miata, and somehow soop it up, for extra horsepower. maybe with a blower. etc. etc. ..................ta daaaaaaaaaaa.
Why would you put a rotary engine in it? Rotary engine's are junk. Put a Ford 351 in it and make a "Monster Miata" Those are badass!!
